Claudication (Klaw-Dih-Kay-Shun)

Claudication is pain or fatigue in the calves with ambulation that abates with rest. It is a possible symptom of peripheral artery disease (PAD) of the legs. Blockages in the arteries limit blood flow. When "demand" for blood flow increase with walking, then "supply" cannot keep up. The result is pain or fatigue in the muscles downstream of the blockages. If "demand" decreases with rest, then the symptoms go away.

Besides the bothersome symptoms, PAD may also lead to limb loss. If you or a loved one experiences symptoms consistent with claudication, then you should have it evaluated promptly. Call TN Vascular for an appointment. No referral is necessary.

Our Medical Expertise

My primary care physician sent me here for a second opinion after MMC vascular told me that my only alternative was to inject my vein with foam and kill the vein due to a insect bite that wouldn’t heal due to blood not being able to heal the wound from a previous clot restricting blood flow to it.

Well after 4 other visits to clinics including the St Thomas ER and dealing with this pain for close to 1 year coming here was one of the best decisions I ever made!

They have performed additional ultrasound testing and currently are giving me additional wound care options and that was just what I needed!

In addition,I am always greeted by smiling friendly employees. The office is always very clean.

All Providers from the receptionist to the nursing staff are always very professional and knowledgeable!

I highly recommend this facility!
